I want to know if there is an English accent (from England) that is generally considered to be unintelligible ?
Q. I want to know if there is an English accent (from England) that is generally considered to be almost unintelligible by most English speaking from England; meaning is there one area in England where there is an accent that is so hard to understand that unless you actually lived in that area that you wouldn't be able to understand (or at least have difficulty understanding) what the people in that area are saying?

A. without any doubt the hardest accent for your average english person to understand is the geordie accent which people around the Newcastle area have. i once spoke to a young lady at my phone bank and she said about 20 words and at the end i said "i'm really sorry but i didn't understand a single word you just said". She sighed heavily and then repeated it, this time sounding like the Queen of England (think she was taking the mick at this point lol) I can understand every other accent apart from some scots accents (but that's scottish not english obviously).

What are some philosophers who are unintelligible, but everyone seems to think they are amazing?
Q. I credit Descartes with 2 innovations. Bringing conversational French prose into philosophical writing, and making Epistemology the focus of philosophy, both of which were a great advance in my opinion. But I agree with you. His focus on 'certain knowledge', as he defines it in his First Medidation, leaves a lot of what we claim to know out of the discussion. Thus, his conclusions are inadequate as an exposition of knowledge in general.

A. Jean Paul Sartre is the worst, and he is closely followed by his student Martin Heidegger, to whom it appears he taught the art of writing for philosophical clarity. Being is a complex enough subject without creating additional difficulties by writing that is as clear as mud. One wonders after the third or fourth reading of these authors if they are actually saying anything at all. One turns to academics to get the skinny on what they are saying. Out of 100 academics there will be at least 105 different opinions about what has been said (some academics even disagree with themselves, of course) Sartre did say that Existence precedes essense so he gets somecredit for that. Heidegger gets some credit for his concept of the "unconcealed".… [cont.]

A. Dude, just chill and wait till Google's spiders index your site. Prob in a couple weeks. everybody wants to pop number one on Google. You'll find all kinds of con schemes that take your money and promise to get you in the top 10 or whatever. But the fact is they won't. If you've got a good, relevant site, and get a bunch of other sites to link to you, you'll eventually end up high in the search results. Good luck, Donk

Did any Obama backers change their support to another candidate after his unintelligible attempt at a debate?
Q. Obama did horribly in last night's debate. He was tripping over his words and ideas. He filled the air with um's, uh, oh's. Did anyone, who was a supporter of his change his/her mind after watching the debate? (Obama supporters and their rants are not welcomed as the this question is obviously not targeted to you. )

A Wireless card or camera? Make sure you check windows update for the latest drivers. Http://update.microsoft.c om Choose Advanced and then drivers. If any are listed choose to update them. With any luck that you get you taken care of

Q. what are the words pure, unintelligible, and heavenly messenger in swahili?
Asked by lilmiriam71 - Tue Aug 1 03:50:18 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well, the words can change based on what they refer to, but I'll try... for "pure" -- although pure water would use the word safi, I think you must mean something else which is "menyu." You seem to be asking about the word in a religious sense. for "unintelligible" -- the only translation I know of is to say that someone or something is unintelligible. For you are unintelligible, it would be usioeleweka, for he/she it would be asioeleweka. for "heavenly messenger" -- about the closest you will get there is the Swahili version of angel, and that is malaika.

What do I put in a quote if the person's speech was intelligible for a certain word?
Q. When you read in newspapers and they correct for spelling, they normally put [sic] to mean that. Suppose I am quoting someone and one of the words in their sentence is unintelligible (I can't understand what word they used)--what do I put to signify that in my quote?
Asked by Reptar88 - Wed May 27 22:48:05 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You are correct; "sic" is used to indicate a spelling correction from the original. To indicate an unintelligible word use (unintelligible) or (indistinct).

How did the Indo-European languages get to be so different from one another?
Q. From Sanskrit and Lithuanian to Latin and Greek...all these languages supposedly originate from one single mother-language, and indeed share a certain amount of common cognates. But they are utterly unintelligible with one another...Greek won't help you with Russan for example. Any ideas on how the Indo-European families have become so distinct from one another?
Asked by gl.fraenzi - Tue Apr 8 03:43:43 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The answer is very simple: distance between communities and the pass of time made all this languages find different sounds and signs for different realities. If you notice, Spanish, French, Italian and Rumanian are not that different. But they're difficult to learn because their words were meant to explain realities we never have experienced before. Also, Greek won't help you with Russian because they come from a different root. But don't worry, that's how languages are supposed to be. Just look at Basque. That's a puzzle of a language. Nobody knows where its origins are. Good question!
